Dr. Therese McCarthy started working at a veterinary hospital in middle school. By the time she graduated as a doctor she had already been working in a veterinary hospital for 10 years, and has been practicing for over 40 years since.

As a child she grew up training dogs, as well as training and showing horses. She is an avid lover of all things nature: including gardening, sailing, hiking, beekeeping, and pollinator habitat restoration.

Terry (her husband) and Therese have Tibie, the most lovable terrier (couch princess), and Beckett, the brainy and beautiful shepherd (loyal adventurer). The enjoy working with their adult children, Jeannie and Francis, at Shelter Bay.

University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Weeg obtained her bachelor’s degree in Zoology with a concentration in neurobiology and animal behavior from Michigan State University in 2009. She then went on to graduate from University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in rainy Dublin, Ireland. A native of West Michigan, she returned to the state and has been in general practice ever since. Her veterinary interests lie in soft tissue surgery and clinical animal behavior. She is Fear Free Certified and is passionate about cooperative care training for her patients.

She lives in mid-Michigan with her husband on their small hobby farm. She enjoys gardening, arts and crafts, hiking, camping, and training and riding their three horses. She and her husband also have three cats (Declan, Eskarina and Chester) and a small flock of chickens.

Michigan State University

Dr. Sarah Myers received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University and her Bachelors in Biology from Grand Valley State University. She has been practicing with companion animals since graduation in 2011.

She is our ultrasound expert! She’ll often chime in on complex cases, reducing the need for referrals to specialists. She also enjoys internal medicine.

Furry family at home includes her Labrador, Allie, and cat, Bob. She is an active leader in her church ladies group. In her free time she can be found running and playing piano. Together with her husband, she enjoys raising their three kids and finding remote outdoor camping adventures.

University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest

Dr. Lily Molnar grew up in the Chicago suburbs and developed her love for veterinary medicine at an early age through volunteering at shelters, time at the barn, and working in a veterinary clinic during high school.

She is passionate about the bond between pets and their families and values being part of their preventative and lifelong care. Her goal is to keep pets happy, healthy, and with their families for as long as possible.

Dr. Molnar’s interest in different culture and her Hungarian background led her to study abroad and graduate from veterinary school in Budapest. She is excited to be back in the U.S. and begin her dream career. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, long walks outdoors, traveling, running, spending time with friends, family, and her furry companions.

Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Linsay Barnes attended Auburn for her undergraduate studies and her DVM is from Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine (2003). Her next three years were spent in Houston, Texas where she was a full-time veterinarian at an emergency clinic and part-time at a small animal practice.

Dr. Barnes returned to Georgia in 2008 with her husband to be closer to family. Since graduation, she has had a special passion for emergency medicine. The desire to aid both the pet and the family members during stressful times continues to drive that passion. Over her 20 years of practice, her veterinary path has broadened to the complex internal medicine aspects of general practice.

When Dr. Barnes is not working she enjoys spending time with her family; her husband, three sons, and two dogs - "Governor" and "Churchill".

University of Puerto Rico

Dr. Adriana Ortega was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. Her determination to become a veterinarian was evident early on. Throughout highschool she volunteered as a veterinary assistant in small animal clinics and she continued to gain hands on experience during her bachelor's degree at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez. Dr. Ortega graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in May 2025. During veterinary school, Dr. Ortega discovered a special interest in Clinical Pathology and Dermatology.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Ortega loves spending time with family and friends, bird watching, and discovering new restaurants. Her goal as a veterinarian is to provide compassionate, personalized care that helps pets live their happiest and healthiest lives while also offering excellent support to their owners.

Universidad de La Salle in Bogotá

Dr. Vanessa Pintor graduated from Universidad de La Salle in Bogotá, Colombia. After participating in a Work and Travel program and living on Nantucket Island and in Wisconsin in her early twenties, she knew she wanted to build her life in the United States. In 2021, Dr. Pintor moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she began the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification process while working as a veterinary nurse in both general practice and emergency medicine. These experiences allowed her to learn from outstanding specialists and gain exposure to a variety of interesting and challenging cases.

Her professional interests include feline medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. She is passionate about providing compassionate care to both her patients and their families.

Dr. Pintor is bilingual in Spanish and English. In her free time, Dr. Pintor enjoys staying active and practicing Pilates. She is also passionate about history, traveling, discovering new places, and learning about different cultures and traditions alongside her husband, Daniel. They share their home with their two cats, Arenita and Ratón, and their newest addition, Perlita, a Husky-mix puppy.

Aubri is the kind of person every practice needs and few are lucky enough to find. She’s been working at Dandy Acres for almost two decades.

She wrangles the bells and whistles, overseeing daily operations with warmth and steadiness. She lifts up those around her while not letting them get away with a single trick, unless it’s a bad pun!
